Who we are
About us
Founded in 2008, Action for Women and Children Concern (AWCC) Somalia is a non-governmental, non-political, non-profit organization working with communities to save and improve the lives of most vulnerable, poorest and marginalized populations affected by poverty and crisis, and empower women and children to reach their full potential.
We bring over two decades of field-tested expertise, deep rooted community acceptance and ownership, a passion for innovation, dynamic partnerships, and a commitment to making every dollar count.
In the course of the last two decades, we worked and partnered with UN OCHA, SHF, UNDP, UNOPS, Cities Alliance, United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM), Handicap International, FCG Sweden, Amplify Change, Global Green Grants USA, Oxfam Novib, Front Line Human rights Defenders, Child Youth Finance International (CYFI), Peace SOS Netherland and No FGM Australia, Adaptation Research Alliance (ARA) and Our Kids Climate.
AWCC has also become a strong network member of, Girls Not Brides, Africa GBV Prevention Network, Global Climate Change and Health Alliance, (GCHA), Global Network of Civil Society Organizations for Disaster Reduction (GNDR), The Girl Generation, Women Thrive, and CAMPAIGN STOP KILLER ROBOTS. AWCC is Somalia’s ambassadors at large for women, children, and active member of Education, Protection, Food Security (FSC), WASH clusters.
As we look back, we learn from our accomplishments and challenges. As we look ahead, we recommit ourselves to realizing the rights of every child and every woman.
